Gianmarco Raimondo will make his GP2 debut with Trident in this weekend’s Singapore event.
The 22-year-old Canadian has not raced this season, having finished runner-up in last year’s European Formula 3 Open standings.
“I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for a long time,” said Raimondo, who has some GP2 experience from a test with Racing Engineering (pictured).
“Even though I haven’t raced in a while, I didn’t stop my through physical and mental training so I could be ready in case a chance like this materialised.”
Raimondo becomes the latest occupant of Trident’s second car alongside Nathanael Berthon.
Kevin Ceccon, Ricardo Teixeira and Sergio Campana have all taken turns in the seat so far in 2013.
